Which blender should I buy?

So, after hours of health research and weighing up the financial benefits, you’ve decided to BUY A BLENDER! Now, buying a blender isn’t a case of which one is the shiniest (it’s not a new phone) or has the biggest volume (size isn’t everything), there are so many considerations you need to bear in mind ranging from accessories, speed, ease of cleaning, power and, the biggie, colour.

Let’s remind ourselves: why should we drink smoothies?

Smoothies are one of the best ways to maintain and improve your health (reduces high cholesterol). Not only do they help provide your body with the nutrients it needs, it is perhaps one of the tastiest ways to get your five a day in one go! I drink a smoothie every single day, and some days, dare I say, I may even have two. At this point, my body craves the fruits and veggies, nuts, berries, seeds, honey and all the other goodies that I love to pack into my smoothies to make them as healthy as possible.

This liquefied goodness that my body craves has done wonders for my health and personal fitness goals. My digestion has never been better, and I don’t think I’ve been sick in months, maybe years. There are so many recipes that can range from targeting detox or immune strengthening to healthy (and sweet!) snacks, and although I could talk about all the delicious mixtures for hours, let me introduce you to a few blenders.

Below I have outlined four different blenders that stand as formidable weapons in the battle for the smoothest smoothie. Each holds different characteristics, but all will aid you in your quest to a better self.

The Kenwood 3-in-1 Blender with Smoothie to Go Accessory Kit

Features

The Kenwood BL237 3-in-1 Blender has a 1 litre capacity and is powered by 350 watts of fruit and veggie grinding force. It includes two speed settings, as well as a pulse button for more accurate control when using the included mill kit and the 450 ml smoothie to go accessory cup. The blades are detachable for easy cleaning, which is great especially if you add any sticky nut butters to your smoothies.

What Makes It Different To Others

This blender stands out from the others as a good option for a smaller kitchen. It is still able to provide decent power to crush through whatever you may want to add to your smoothie without blowing a fuse. I personally love the smoothie to go cup in the mornings before I run out of the house, and the mill is a nice bonus for making sauces and dips.

However…

One potential drawback is that there are only two speed options. Although this isn’t really an issue for making smoothies, it may restrict other activities that you can do. If you have big plans on making soups or something else, then perhaps taking a look farther down this list would be wise.

Thoughts?

The overall verdict for this blender is that it is a good option for a good price. It is relatively cheap, but still works great for making tasty smoothies. If you want something with a bit more versatility or more power than perhaps another blender would be a better option, but for those with their eye on their bank account, this is a worthwhile choice.

The VonShef Soup and Smoothie Maker

A whole lotta fruit is gonna get blended!

Features

This blender is a great option for those who want to make more than just smoothies. I know it is unimaginable that someone would want anything other than a smoothie, but for those who do, this is the way to go. With a 1.7 litre capacity, it is able to hold many ingredients and make enough smoothie (or soup!) for you and your hungry friends. It has a ton of settings that can be used for functions like blending, pulsing, cooking, and ice crushing to name a few.

What Makes It Different To Others

The VonShef blender is distinguished from the others by its heater function. This makes it able to heat and cook soups extremely easily and quickly. The large jug can hold a lot of ingredients, which eliminates mess and makes it easier to serve a larger group of people. This blender also comes with a 2 year warranty, so you know that it will keep on ticking whenever you need it.

However…

Although this blender has received primarily good reviews, one potential drawback is that it does not come with a lot of accessories. It does come with a free scrubber brush and egg steamer attachment, but little else to aid in the creation of delicious smoothies. Of course, you don’t need much more than the large jug to make it, but sometimes this can be inconvenient, particularly when you are only making one small smoothie, and then are forced to wash one large jug.

Thoughts?

The final verdict for this blender is that it is a good option for those who want to do more than just make smoothies. It is especially effective for making soups, and after all, isn’t soup just a hot smoothie?

The Salter Nutri Pro 1000 Extra Deluxe Blender

Salter Nutri Pro 1000 Blender
Before the fruit massacre…

Features

If you are looking for accessories and a powerful blender, the Nutri Pro 1000 is truly an extra deluxe blender. With 1000 watts of blending energy, the Nutri Pro 1000 can easily get through anything you could ever imagine adding to a smoothie. It also comes with three 800 ml cups, two 1 litre cups, a nutrient extractor blade for the tough stuff, and a variety of lids for transport and storage.

What Makes It Different To Others

For the size of the Nutri Pro 1000, it makes for a very powerful blender. This makes it great for small and efficient kitchens. The variety of smaller sized cups is perfect for those who typically make smoothies for only for themselves, right before they rush out, or for those who try to please everyone by making many different flavours. The best part of this blender is that everything you make is ready in a cup, and simply adding a storage or easy drink flip top lid makes it ready to use for your immediate need.

However…

The major potential drawback for this blender is that it is limited to a 1000 ml maximum size. Although this is totally fine for one person, or maybe at most, small portions for two people, you may find yourself making more than one batch of smoothie to satisfy everyone. Of course, if everyone wants a different flavour, then it is totally manageable. As long as you don’t mind the extra dishes.

Thoughts?

Overall this is a great blender for a decent price. It delivers a lot of power, and comes with a good variety of cups, lids, and attachments. This blender can create super smooth smoothies without taking up too much space on the counter top.

The NutriBullet RX

NutriBullet RX 1700W Power Blender
Look at the colours!

Features

This is a totally loaded blender for those who want it all. It has an incredible 1700 watts of power with a 2.3 horse power motor. It comes with a great range of accessories such as the Souperblast pitcher or the powerful extractor blade, all of which is controlled by SMART Technology, which automatically controls the RPM and timing of your smoothies. In addition, the G-button on the front makes it souper easy to blast out hot soups.

What Makes It Different To Others

The NutriBullet RX really stands out as the blender that can do it all. From super smoothies to piping hot soups, it has the capacity to take care of any blender related task in the kitchen. Although similar in style to others in the Nutri family, this blender takes the cake, and blends it into a smooth, tasty liquid.

However…

With a blender like this, there aren’t too many potential drawbacks in terms of functionality. That being said, a blender like this does not come at a cheap price. Some may say that you need to pay for quality, and while this may be true, another cheaper blender will still be able to make you an absolutely delicious smoothie.

Thoughts?

Overall, this blender makes the smoothest of smoothies. Not only that, if you want soup or something else, it is capable of making it happen with a high degree of quality. If money is no object and cost is of no concern, then I would recommend the NutriBullet RX for those who want to drive a luxury vehicle on the highway of blenders. For those who are a little like me (not a millionaire!), perhaps we will be taking a look at one of the other options in this list.

Overall Thoughts

Out of these 4, I personally would go for the NutriBullet RX. I don’t just blend for smoothies, I also use a blender for the odd bit of baking. I tend to use my blender 3-4 times a week so I don’t mind paying a bit more for something I use regularly. Also, the family of accessories it comes with would give me more of a reason to use my blender!

Enjoy!
